Over the past few years wildland fires have devastated thousands of families in the state of California. Tragically many lost their lives. Survivors are now faced with the ongoing reality that they may not have enough insurance to rebuild their home to the level it once was. I sat down this morning with insurance Agent/Broker Mike Guarino to discuss how Silicon Valley homeowners can determine the appropriate level of homeowner insurance should a disaster strike.

One thing homeowners should also think about is that many of our local municipalities may add additional items to the rebuild process that weren’t part of your original home (like landscaping, underground utility hookup, and solar or energy requirements). To get a better handle on the true costs of insurance it makes sense to check with your insurance agent, building department as well as a good reputable builder.
