In my opinion, the best home on today’s Los Altos Broker tour was the property located at 1733 Oak Avenue in South Los Altos. If one could get this home for its listed price of $1,325,000, it would be a steal. But it will likely sell with multiple offers substantially above asking (check the comps). The home is listed by Terrie Masuda of Coldwell Banker – Los Altos.
1733 Oak Avenue is a 4-bedroom, 2.5-bath – 2264 square foot original condition home on a 9,976 +/- s.f. lot. It has a great floor plan and appears to be well-kept and extremely livable. I have a pretty good idea as to its original condition, because I grew up with the kids of the prior owners and have been in the home many times prior to the home being sold to its current owners. The house is located approximately 400 yards from Oak Elementary School and 100 yards from Mountain View High School. Blach Intermediate School is about 1.5 miles away.
With all the upside to the home, there are a few potential negatives. It receives some highway 85 noise. The high school band, which can be heard (slight noise) at the property, plays pretty early in the mornings. The master bath has a sunken tub/shower that is hard to get in and out of. Lastly, Mountain View High School is looking into the possibility of adding lights to its football field. Should that occur, there could be some slight noise from evening football games (Friday nights).
All in all, I think it is a great property for that buyer who wants a spacious home with great schools and who can envision remodeling the home to make it his/hers/theirs.
