I really enjoy fall. The air is cool and crisp. The trees are changing and leaves are on the ground. It is also the time of the year when kids (and adults) get to dress up in their scariest costumes and enjoy Halloween.
On Friday the 29th, our local elementary schools will host costume parades for all the kids to show off their costumes. Based on past history, I think the teachers get the most fun out of the parades. The older kids will be off to Halloween dances.
Below are some of the local events that are happening in Los Altos around Halloween.
Los Altos Halloween Spooktacular – Friday October 29th 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. Cost: Free
The Los Altos Village Association hosts its annual Halloween Spooktacular on Friday October 29th in Downtown Los Altos. Beginning around noon and ending around 4:00 (or when the candy runs out) kids, young and old, dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes and stroll through downtown Los Altos. Merchants with the designated orange pumpkin sign on their storefront window provide candy treats. There will also be games and crafts at State and Second streets from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
The Rancho Merchant’s Association is having Halloween Family Fun on Sunday October 31st from 11:30 am – 1:30 p.m. Cost: Free
Kids corner with Halloween inspire games . Come see the Halloween and Fall art that will be displayed throughout the shopping center. The art was created by local school children and art centers.
Come to Brian’s Restaurant at the Rancho Shopping Center on Friday October 29th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and kids in costume eat free with the purchase of an adult diner entrée.
Halloween Haunts at Hidden Villa – Friday October 29th 6:45 – 8:45 p.m. Cost: children free with paying adult ($18.00)

Family Fun Night – Bridges Community Church – Friday October 29th 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Cost: Free
Bridges Community Church will host it’s annual Family Fun Night at 625 Magdalena Avenue in Los Altos. There will be activities like family friendly games, trick-car-treating, bounce houses and pumpkin carving for children from preschool through elementary school.
Pumpkin Party – Immanuel Lutheran Church – Saturday 3:00-5:00 p.m. Cost: Free
Pumpkin carving and decorating, food and trick or treating.
Tots and Treats – Foothill Covenant Church – Friday October 29th, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Cost: Free
For children 5 and under (and their parents). Come for a fun time of games, mazes, snacks, pictures and prizes.
