New Home Construction in Los Altos Continues to be Active

Almost every morning I take my dog on a walk to Rancho Shopping Center and back.  Over the last few years I have noticed a substantial amount of new construction on my route.  Older homes are being bought, torn down and replaced by new homes.

Most of the homes that I have seen are being constructed with at least two levels.  Some have three levels which include a basement.  Basements have become popular in Los Altos (and surrounding cities) because the underground square footage doesn’t count against the home’s footprint or floor area ratio (FAR).
